Available Pugs

In memory of MoJo Be my sponsor

We currently have 14 Pugs in rescue!

All of our pugs live in a foster home where they are given time to settle in. Based on what is observed in the foster home, the pug will then be placed in the most appropriate adoptive home. Basic obedience, crate training, housebreaking or reinforcing housebreaking, as well as socializing with other dogs, are among the functions of our foster homes.

Please note that we are a network of volunteers. We do not have a facility for you to visit our Pugs. Is a Rescue Pug Right for You?

Definitions:

Available - We are looking through our approved adoption applications to find an application that matches our rescue Pugs personality. At this stage we are contacting applicants to schedule a home check.

Medical Hold - We are looking through our approved adoption applications to find an application that matches our rescue Pugs personality, however, an adoption will not occur until an existing health issue is addressed

Adoption Fees - When you adopt from the Pug Rescue Network, your pug will have been brought up-to-date on all vaccinations, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, as well as any major health issues addressed (many suffer from neglect which is very costly to correct). This high-level of healthcare gives the best possible chance for success at his / her new forever home. This cost is covered partially by the adoption fee while the rest is covered by our fundraising efforts. (Our adoption fee is based on age, ranging from $75 for seniors to $400 for puppies. The adoption fee rarely covers the healthcare costs we have incurred for each Pug.

Adoption Pending - Home check has been done and approved. We are now in the process of scheduling the pre-adoption meeting. If everything goes good at the pre-adoption meeting, the adoption will take place.

REMEMBER: We cannot discuss which Pug is right for you unless we have an approved application on file. If you are looking to adopt a Pug, you NEED to get your adoption application in. While you may have fallen in love with one of our Available Pugs, we CANNOT do anything until we have an approved adoption application on file.

Why does it take 2-4 weeks for a applications to be reviewed? We are all volunteers with full time jobs and families. Most of us also have foster dogs that we take care of. This includes teaching the Pugs their manners. While we try to do things in a timely manner, things do come up, so please be patient with us. It is worth the wait to know you saved a Pug that was in need. The rescue Pug you adopt will thank you every day for rescuing him or her.

Jada

Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome Jada PRN #295 to rescue. Jada was surrendered to PRN by a caring individual who rescued her from an uncertain future. You see, Jada was kept in a garage, and the person that owned her was moving, and was not sure what he was going to do with her! Her rescue angel took her in and called Pug Rescue Network to save the day.

Jada is a one-year old little girl of 14 pounds. Since being at PRN, Jada has been brought up to date on her vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. Jade is a ball of energy. I forgot what it is like to have a young kid around the house. She is a great source of entertainment, let me tell you! Jada runs everywhere. She entertains herself very well. She will get a toy and throw it up in the air and plays all by herself. She does love the human attention, too, and will settle down in your lap as long as you are petting her.

If you would like to adopt Jada, please submit an application with her name on it and PRN #295. If you cannot adopt Jada, please consider sponsoring her for as little as $1.

Peggy Sue Peggy Sue

Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome Peggy Sue, PRN #294, to rescue. Peggy Sue comes to us from the Michigan Humane Society. Peggy was turned over to PRN because MSH felt that they could not adopt Peggy Sue out. Peggy did have kennel cough when she came into rescue, but she is over that now!

Peggy Sue is a sweet senior pug that knows sit, stay, paw, and speak. She is sharp as she can be and let me tell you what a joy she is to be around. Peggy is a diamond in the rough that you should not pass up! Peggy has been brought up to date on her vaccines. She is spayed and microchipped and ready to bring the joy of her world to you. Peggy does have a weak back end and sometimes her back legs give out on her, but she is quick to regain her back end. She is completely house broken and crate trained. Peggy is about 9 years old and weighs about 17 pounds. There is a lot of love in this small package! Peggy will be seen by our orthopedic surgeon to see if we can help her back end. She will require Cosequin supplements to help her out, and lots of attention, of course! Love the seniors<3.

If you would like to adopt Peggy Sue, please submit an application with her name on it and PRN #294. If you cannot adopt Peggy Sue, please consider sponsoring her for as little as $1.

Dori

Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome Dori, PRN #293, into rescue. Dori was surrendered to a local shelter where PRN picked her up. Dori is the happiest little girl you could ever meet! Dori is a wiggler. But I tell you, you will smile when you see her wiggle!

Dori is 4 years old, up-to-date on her vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and has had her teeth cleaned. Dori is a little girl and at her healthiest, should weigh 15 pounds. She could stand to lose a couple of pounds now, but is working on her diet. You know how hard that is to do around the holidays and winter!

Dori gets along with all the pugs in her foster home and loves to play with her pug eggs. She is a joy to have around this holiday season as she is a very happy pug. So if you are looking for someone to add a smile to your home, Dori is that pug. Well, for that matter, they all make you smile, of course!

If you are interested in Dori, please submit an application with her name and PRN #293 on it. If you cannot adopt Dori, please consider sponsoring her so PRN can continue to rescue pugs in need.

Betsy

Pug Rescue Network would like to introduce our most recent new rescue resident PRN #292 - Betsy.  Betsy came into rescue as a stray from a local Michigan shelter. Betsy is 8 years old, has been updated on all her vaccinations, spayed, heartworm tested (Negative), and has been seen by the rescue's opthamologist.

Betsy is currently on "Medical Hold" as we are working on her eyes. She is visually impaired with 100%PK in her right eye and 80% in her left. She is on prescription eye drops that will be required for the rest of her life. Betsy is EXCELLENT about having her eyes done and will sit like a good girl and let you do them. Now that Betsy is feeling better,  she is also going to have dental work before leaving rescue.

Betsy is a super good little girl! She is 100% housebroken and will go to the door and sit to be let out. Betsy doesn't care if it is raining or snowing when she goes outside! She is crate trained and excellent traveling in the car. Betsy gets along with other pugs, and is currently with four other pugs in her foster home - and gets along with everyone!

If you are looking for a lad back snuggle pug, then Betsy is the girl for you! She loves to have her belly rubbed, and if you stop, she will touch your hand to let you know she did not tell you to stop! If you feel Betsy is the perfect pug you have been searching for, then fill out an Adoption Application and put her name and PRN #292 on it.

If you are unable to adopt at this time, consider being a "sponsor" for Betsy this holiday season.

Zach

Hello there everyone! My name is Zach and I am new to the Pug Rescue Network family. My PRN # is 287, and personally, I feel that is my new lucky number:)

I am about 8 years old and about 25 pounds. I was found as a stray and then turned over to Pug Rescue Network. I could not see where I was going, and I got lost only to have a family pick me up, but the could not keep me.

Since I have been at PRN, my foster mom has taken me to the vet several times. I have had some health issues and am now on the way to recovery. I had to have one of my eyes removed. It was really hurting, and I could not see out of it anyway. I could hardly eat because my teeth were really bad and now I have seen the dentist and he has fixed my mouth so I have not problem eating, and you can see my pearly whites. He did say something about braces though--not! I have also been treated for the worms that I had. I have got to tell you the folks here at PRN treat me really well. Who needs a Blue Cross card when I have my foster mom to take care of me?

Well, if you are looking for a handsome, older gentleman, I am the one for you. I am a very good boy that just loves attention and a good nap.

If you are interested in adopting me, please submit an application with my PRN #287 and name (Zach). If you cannot adopt me, please consider being a sponsor of mine as the volunteers have spent a lot of money on me. They do say I am worth every penny and then some, but if you can help them out, I would appreciate that for the wonderful care I am getting.

Bo Duke - What a handsome little guy!

"Hi everyone!" I guess I will start by introducing myself to the PRN family as Beauregard "Bo" Duke, PRN #280! You see, the reason why I have this name is because my foster Mommy named me after the character on the Dukes of Hazzard who was just too cute to resist back then...and that is exactly what I am. A handsome cute boy indeed!

My story begins as a dog who was bought for an elderly woman who unfortunately had to be admitted to a nursing home a couple of months ago. Sadly, the existing family members did not want me, and if you can believe this...they abandoned me and left me to be taken care of by a niece who also did not want me! Also, the house where I was staying is in foreclosure so my days were numbered there as well. The only other option they thought I had was to be put to sleep at the Humane Society in Detroit. So there was some intervention, and thankfully, the PRN angels were contacted to rescue me just before Thanksgiving.

I am a beautiful AKC registered six-year-old fawn boy, and if you can believe it, I was purchased at a pet store and born in what my foster Mommy tends to believe, was a puppy mill in Missouri. As a result of the breeding, I was born with a genetic defect in my rear legs which makes it a little bit harder to get along, but don't let that fool you! You should see me move!

The rescue angels took me to see our number one orthopedic surgeon, and he feels that with some reconstructive surgery, there is a 90% chance I will be improved and maintain a much better quality of life! However, he did want me to undergo an MRI to see the details more closely, and I assure you, all of us are eager to see those results so any decisions regarding surgery can be made.  It will be a long road for me and the PRN, but I know I am in the best hands possible. I promise to update you on my progress!

Although life in my foster home is going excellently, please know that the costs involved with fixing me will be tremendous. So if you can find it in your hearts to help these rescue angels with the costs of surgery and the current tests that have been done, I would be most grateful.

I am housetrained, very sweet, gorgeous, loving, and just adore people. I am still getting used to my crate, and will let my foster parents know just how dismayed I am about being in that crate! But hey, these things take time! We are working on that.

Well, I am signing off now. Gotta get down to some serious R & R at the "Duke" home down yonder! And I promise to keep Boss Hogg and Roscoe P. Coltrane in line.

If you are interested in adopting me, please submit an application with my name on it and PRN #280. If you cannot adopt me, please consider sponsoring me as my vet costs could be
over $5,000. Even $1 will help my angels this holiday season.

Take care, y'all!

Well how ya'll doing!

Update 2/15/2011: Betcha been wondering about me huh??  Well, I am
happy to report that the big surgery day was January 20th and all went
very smoothly.  And better yet, the kind doctor who performed my surgery
did not have to do what was anticipated (break both my femur and tibia
bones in my left leg), but instead managed to do what is called a Grade
4 Luxating Patella procedure.

You see, as I stated, I was born with a genetic condition, which did not
allow my legs to form properly, so for those of you who met me, I appear
to be bowl-legged.  I do get around pretty good; but I tend to hop
instead of walk normal, like most puggies.

So, once the doctor got in there and assessed the situation closely, he
managed to re-shape my knee, and work the muscles surrounding my knee
bone, to line up correctly with the rest of my leg.  He decided to
operate on the left leg first, and then we will do the second leg this
spring.  Boy, can you imagine how relieved my foster Mommy and the PRN
angels were, to know that although the surgery was extensive (I was in
the doggie hospital for two days!), the worst case scenario did not need
to happen.  Phew!!

In those first few days following the surgery, I was on Rimadyl,
Tramadol and Cosequin, to ease the pain; and they worked very well.  All
I remember from this timeframe was sleeping a lot; which is what I was
supposed to do!  Well now, those days are all gone, and I feel so much
better!

My foster Mommy had to bring me to see the Physical Therapist/Vet
Technician, who gave her some exercises to do daily, which will help me
heal properly.  Even though I can be a little stubborn stinker, Mommy
always wins, and we complete the exercises, and I have been healing just
beautifully.  Even the Physical Therapist was impressed at how well I
have been recovering since the big day.

Update 5/1/2011
Hi y'all!

Betcha been wondering about me and how my second leg surgery went huh?

Well I am pleased to announce it went well again!   That kind doctor at Oakland
Animal Hospital operated on my right leg April 7th and did the same procedure he did
for my left leg back in January.

Luckily, for both surgeries, he did not have to break any bones and was able to
repair both luxating patellas very well. Now, mind you of course, I do have to
recover with my foster Mommy, but that is okay.

Good new too all you Hazzard county folks...I am learning how to walk like a normal
pug vs. hopping like I used to do. So, all is well. I have even dropped a few
pounds, which the doctor says is necessary for my recovery.

I go to see him on May 7th for my next checkup.

Happy Easter y'all!  I'll be in touch soon!  I am hoping to find my forever home
this summer!

Bill and Bob

Click on link and check out Bill at Pug-O Ween.

Pug Rescue Network would like to introduce PRN #272 and PRN #273 "Bob & Bill." Bob & Bill arrived into rescue on Friday October 1, 2010. Bob & Bill were found wandering the streets together and ended up in a local shelter.

Bob is estimated to be about 8 years old and Bill 9 years old. It is very obvious that Bob & Bill have lived many years together. Where one is, the other is. Both boys have been seen by our PRN vet. They have been brought up to date on their vaccinations, heartworm checked, microchipped and their teeth have been cleaned. Bob lost 5 teeth and Bill lost 10. Bill also had a growth removed from his leg and the biopsy came back negative. It was just a fatty growth.

PRN understands that adopting two Pugs at one time is a lot for someone. Most people who adopt already have a Pug or two of their own. Bob & Bill are different. They are the most wonderful, loving, respectful boys, and their bond is something to behold. It truly is. Since coming into rescue Bob & Bill have soaked up the love and attention! Both were covered in fleas so were given long bubble baths, Capstar, and Frontline. Bob has a lot of flea bites and dry skin. He also has a bit of an infection going on so has been put on antibiotics as well. Bob, well, he's a bit overweight so he has been put on the 1/4 cup diet. Both boys love to have tears put in their eyes; they sit like perfect gentlemen. Both boys have found the snuggle ball. At any given time, you will find Bob & Bill together on the ball.

If your family is able to give Bob & Bill a warm loving home, please submit an Adoption Application and put their names on it. If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider being a Sponsor for the boys. Help us be able to continue to save one Pug at a time, or in this case, two Pugs at a time.

Marty

Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome PRN #275 "Marty." Marty was rescued from a shelter and his outlook there was a little bleak to say the least. So one of the Pug Rescue Network's volunteers drover over 2 hours each way and rescued Marty. Marty says that she is his hero as he is here lying on her couch.

Marty is a great pug! He loves lying on the couch pug style. He is easy going and just loves his human and his couch. Since he has been at Pug Rescue Network, he has been brought up to date on his vaccines, has had his teeth cleaned and is ready to find his forever home. Did I mention Marty likes to lay on the couch?

If you would like to adopt Marty please click on how to adopt, fill out an adoption application, and put his name and PRN #275 on it. If you cannot adopt Marty, please consider sponsoring him for as little as $1.00 during this Holiday season.

Update 10/16/2010 Beulah is on  the road to recovery. Beulah has been given
her vaccines and are we are currently putting weight on her. She will have her
teeth cleaned, microchipped and the growth removed from her hip in about
three weeks. Please keep Beulah in your thoughts and prayers.

Because of YOU we can give Beulah the medical care she deserves!

We would like to welcome Beulah "Bea" PRN #268 to Pug Rescue Network.
Beulah has a host of issues, if you could find it in your heart to sponsor
Beulah we will feature you name next to her! As little as $1.00 can make a
difference in a pugs life.

Beluah "Bea" was a stray that was rescued by a local shelter and then
turned over to Pug Rescue Network. Beulah was taken to the vet and was not
even able to get her vaccines started because of her immune system being
sacrificed.
Here is a list of medical issues that Pug Rescue Network will address
1. Severe Dematitus from flees, Medicated bath given and Frontline
administered
2. No proof of Vaccines, all will be given when she is medically ready.
3. Dental needed with the possibility of losing many teeth.
4. Coxcidia found in fecal, Medication being given
5. Growth on right rear leg that will be removed when she has her dental
6. Ears infected, Otomax being given.

Beulah will also need to put on a few pounds, but I know she is a diamond
in the rough because of her loving personality.

The good news is that Beulahs eyes look great and she is spayed:) Did I
mention her loving personality?

Because of You we can make Beulah all better! Sponsor her today:)

If you are interested in adopting Beulah please submit an application.
Once all of Beulahs medical issues have been addressed she will be ready
for adoption.

Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome Luigi Angelo, PRN# 252 I’m four years old. I was surrendered by my old owners because I kept having accidents in the house. I was just sad when they left me all day though, that’s all. My new foster mom says that a little structure and crate training now is “for my own good”. But she gives me peanut butter kongs and big bones when I go in my crate, so it’s really not that bad. I don’t even have time to miss her when she’s gone! And don’t tell her I said so, but she’s probably right about it being for my own good, because now she scratches my belly and tells me all the time what a good boy I am for only going potty outside Before I came to PRN I had many different owners and when I was with the very first one, somehow, I really don’t remember how, I got a TACK stuck in my eye! Yes, you are reading that right, a Tack. Now it’s all healed and doesn’t hurt anymore,
but I have a hard time blinking it and closing it all the way when I sleep.  The vet said no problems though, I just need some eye drops in there once a day. I don’t really like them, but again my foster mom says it’s “for my own good”, so I tolerate it.

The vet said that aside from a little ear infection (yuck, more drops!), I’m pretty healthy and up to date on all my vaccines. So now I’m looking for a forever home- one that will give me my own crate to stay in when they’re gone and keep my schedule. I get a little anxious when I’m left to my own devices, so I need someone to be the boss and keep me in my routine! I’m just looking for someone to hang out and watch TV with, really (I love to watch TV- I growl and act tough for all the dogs I see!) and maybe someone to take me for some walks, I’m a big boy (What? I’m not fat, I’m big boned!) so I need to watch my figure. If that’s you, then please fill out an adoption application and put my name, Luigi, on it and PRN# 252!

If you can not adopt me please consider being my sponsor. For $1.00 you could sponsor me and help a pug in need so go ahead and make a donation or you can purchase one of our new 2010 calendars. Maybe next year I can get in the calendar with your help! Just visit http://www.pugjava.com/ to order a calendar.

This is Johnnie Be Good “Senior Head Anchor” for Pug Rescue Network introducing one of our newest arrivals PRN#212 “Daniel Robert”. Daniel came into rescue as an owner surrender due to marking in his previous home and not being able to get along with the other two Pugs in the home. Daniel came to Pug Rescue Network in very bad shape. Daniel has severe skin allergies due to being on a poor quality kibble and not receiving the proper medical attention he needed. Daniel has NEVER seen a veterinarian!! During Daniels initial wellness visit with PRNs vet it was discovered that besides having his horrible skin issue Daniel is “HEARTWORM POSITIVE”. Daniel spent two days undergoing the grueling heartworm treatment during which it was also discover that he suffered from Tapeworm as well. At this time, Daniel must remain calm and quiet in his crate for the next 30 DAYS. If Daniel survives the treatment process after the thirty-day confinement, Daniel will be retested to see if all the worms are gone. A simple Heartworm pill given once a month could have prevented our precious Daniel from going through this ordeal. Folks, the cost of a heartworm tablet is the same as the price of a movie ticket!! Once Daniel is medically well enough he will be neutered have his teeth cleaned and microchipped. I am begging you to find it in your heart to make a donation on behalf of “Daniel Robert”. With out you, our angels could not care for us and be able to give us everything we need and then some when we come into rescue in the horrible shape sweet Daniel is in. Please keep “Daniel Robert” in your thoughts and prayers that he is able to come through this heartbreaking situation and go on to find a wonderful “Forever Home”. This is Johnnie Be Good going to blow my nose.

5/12/2008 Daniel recently spent the night at MSU Veterinary Hospital undergoing a series of test. They were looking for the liver shunt and instead found a 2nd Degree AV block in his heart. The structure of the heart is fine but the electrical is ocassionally short circuting causing a skipped beat. The Drs. think Daniel had a cardiac episode rather than a seizure. They did not rule out a liver shunt , but they couldn't find it. He is currently taking medication and will be evaluated in June. Daniel continues to thrive in his foster home despite all the medcal issues he has dealt with. He is just such a love Pug! Oh, by the way...HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY DANIEL!! 5/15/2008.

1/9/2009 It's the New Year and Daniel is looking forward to a very healthy year! He has been medically cleared for adoption and should live a normal Pug life. Last year, after a fainting episode, test were run and came back positive for a possible liver shunt. A trip to see the Vets at MSU for more testing revealed a 2nd Dgree AV Block rather than a liver shunt. Daniel spent a month on medcation then another trip to MSU. This time test showed a change from 2nd Degree to a 1st/2nd Degree Block. Daniel then was taken off medication for 2 weeks and brought back to MSU for testing once again. Amazingly Daniel showed no signs of the blockage or the liver shunt which is what he was originally in for. Even the Drs were surprised by the results. Daniel is currently not taking any medication, but an annual ECG has been recomended by his Vets. All of this happened after successfully being treated for Heartworm in Nov./Dec. of 2007.

Daniel is a love Pug wanting nothing more than a bone to chew and a place to sleep. He is the picture of health with a solid body of well defined muscle that you don't normally see on Pugs.

Daniel hopes everyone has a Happy Healthy New Year!

This is “Johnnie Be Good” Senior Head Anchor (note the promotion) reporting live from PRN Headquarters where I’d like to introduce one of our newest arrivals PRN#202 Miss. Dorothy “Dottie” Anne. I’m in foster care with Miss. Dot and have had quite a bit of time to sit and chat with her. “Dot”, can you tell the people out there a little bit about yourself and how you came into rescue. Well Johnnie, I was found wandering as a stray outside of a local tavern up in the northern part of Michigan. Hey, I was just out looking for a good hot bar burger and a cold margarita and somehow ended up in the local slammer!!! They were kind enough to call upon the Angels to come bail me out. One of the wonderful PRN Volunteers drove up and picked Miss. Birdie Bell Blossom and me up and transported us down here into Foster Care. I’ve got some pretty serious medical issues that need to be addressed but once that’s all taken care of I’ll be ready to let the Angels find me a “Forever Home”!! I’ve also had time to sit with Pug Rescue Networks Vet Care Coordinator who also happens to be my Foster Mom and here what’s going on with Miss. Dots medical issues: Dottie was taken to PRNs wonderful vets on Tuesday 8/28/07. Dottie has a very large mammary tumor about the size of a baseball hanging off her along with several other tumors that run up and down both sides of her belly. X-Rays were taken to see what was going on inside Miss. Dot, the x-rays looked good. There were no signs of the dreaded “C” word and her heart and trachea looked good. Dot was given her Rabies and we started her DHPP series. A full Wellness blood panel was drawn and she was Heartworm Negative!! Her blood work did show a little elevation of her white blood cells so she was put on an antibiotic for a couple of weeks. On 8/30/07 Dot went in for a biopsy of the largest tumor on her and we are still awaiting the results. Once we have those back, we will determine her course of treatment. Along with the entire tumor removals Dot needs to be spayed and have her teeth cleaned. Her treatment will take time as all the tumors cannot be removed at once because (don’t mean to be graphic) but our vets wouldn’t be able to close her completely back up because there wouldn’t be enough skin left. So removal may have to be done in stages. Johnnie I just want to add as your know, this little girl has so much love and life in her!! She just amazes me everyday!! She acts like a puppy jumping on and off the couch, and running up and down the stairs. I’ve had a difficult job here of late trying to keep her from hurting herself after her biopsy because it hasn’t slowed her down one bit!! Well all, I will update on Miss. Dot as soon as new information is given. Please keep my friend in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through her upcoming difficult medical procedures. I would love to see an application come in for this beautiful little girl. But, if you’re not able to apply for my friend Dot, please consider being a Sponsor for her. Our Angels could use the help taking care of her!! This is “Johnnie Be Good” reporting live from PRN Headquarters.
