Available Pugs
In memory of MoJo |
We currently have 16 Pugs in rescue!
All of our pugs live in a foster home where they are given time to settle in. Based on what is observed in the foster home, the pug will then be placed in the most appropriate adoptive home. Basic obedience, crate training, housebreaking or reinforcing housebreaking, as well as socializing with other dogs, are among the functions of our foster homes.
Please note that we are a network of volunteers. We do not have a facility for you to visit our Pugs. Is a Rescue Pug Right for You?
Definitions:
Available - We are looking through our approved adoption applications to find an application that matches our rescue Pugs personality. At this stage we are contacting applicants to schedule a home check.
Medical Hold - We are looking through our approved adoption applications to find an application that matches our rescue Pugs personality, however, an adoption will not occur until an existing health issue is addressed
Adoption Fees - When you adopt from the Pug Rescue Network, your pug will have been brought up-to-date on all vaccinations, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, as well as any major health issues addressed (many suffer from neglect which is very costly to correct). This high-level of healthcare gives the best possible chance for success at his / her new forever home. This cost is covered partially by the adoption fee while the rest is covered by our fundraising efforts. (Our adoption fee is based on age, ranging from $150 for seniors to $400 for young adults and puppies. The adoption fee rarely covers the healthcare costs we have incurred for each Pug.
Adoption Pending - Home check has been done and approved. We are now in the process of scheduling the pre-adoption meeting. If everything goes good at the pre-adoption meeting, the adoption will take place.
REMEMBER: We cannot discuss which Pug is right for you unless we have an approved application on file. If you are looking to adopt a Pug, you NEED to get your adoption application in. While you may have fallen in love with one of our Available Pugs, we CANNOT do anything until we have an approved adoption application on file.
Why does it take 2-4 weeks for a applications to be reviewed? We are all volunteers with full time jobs and families. Most of us also have foster dogs that we take care of. This includes teaching the Pugs their manners. While we try to do things in a timely manner, things do come up, so please be patient with us. It is worth the wait to know you saved a Pug that was in need. The rescue Pug you adopt will thank you every day for rescuing them.

pdate: 3/12/10 Hello everyone! It is I, Jo-Jo, and I just wanted to let everyone know I am still around. Now that the weather is warmer and all the snow has melted, I can see the grass in the backyard at my foster parent’s home! Grass is much better than the snow. I really enjoy going outside to do what I need to do and to explore what is out there. I saw a fat, black squirrel on the power lines and I tried to jump up and play with him. But, I could not get up there, so I thought he would come down and play with me. Well, all he did was run into the next yard. I tried to run after him to play, but he was gone. So, I had to play with my foster sister and brother. It would have been nice to see someone new.
Well, my foster parents are treating me well and helping me with my skin. My foster sister showed me this cool thing the foster parent’s have – the laser light. She said, “Come and play with me. Try to get it.” When the little, red light is shown on the floor, we try and run after it. But, every time I catch it, it seems to escape. So, I go get it again. Then, it seems to hide somewhere until it comes back out. One day I will find out where it is.
My foster parents had a “grown up” meeting to go for the rescue, so they took me along. I did not mind the ride in the truck because I knew I was going somewhere. When we got there, I got to see other Pugs! My foster parents unleashed me and said, “Have fun.” I got to run around with previous friends as well as meet some new ones. There was this little back girl that kept running around all over the place. There were too many Pugs chasing her, so I just mingled with everyone else. I had a real good time and hope to go out more often. My foster parents said I behaved really well, so I get to go to several of the upcoming Pug Rescue Network’s Meet-n-Greets to hopefully meet a nice family that will want to bring me into their forever home. That would be great. I know my foster parents love me, but I do want a stable place to call my own.
Thanks everyone for reading this and I will be sure to check back in soon
Update: 2/19/10 Hello Everyone! It’s me, Jo-Jo, and I wanted to let everyone know how I am doing. It has been awhile since I wrote last and things really have been happening to me.
I spent some time north of the Metro area with a great foster family. I was treated like a king! People adored me. Pugs to play with. And the food was great! Isn’t all food great?!!! I’m a Pug, what do you expect! We were having fun and some good times. But, good times do come to an end. The Pug Rescue people thought it would be a good idea for me not to get used to one family. I might think it is my forever home! So, I was brought back down to the Metro area. What a vacation time I had!
Since I have been back down here, I took a trip the vet. My new foster parent’s were saying my breath really stinks. The vet took a look at me and yep, my mouth stunk. I had more rotten teeth! So, eleven more teeth were pulled. Yep, nothing really up front in my mouth anymore. I still have me back teeth, though. I had to take some medication for a week, but I am over it now. The vet also said I had a little skin irritation and my foster parents have to give me a bath once a week with special shampoo. I don’t mind the baths too much. After the bath, I get to run around with the towel used to dry me off! I can take out my aggregations on the towel!
My foster parents are really cool! I even like my foster brother and sister. At first, they thought I was the “stinky kid” and rightfully so. Now, we all get along and sleep in the same day bed when the foster parents are home. I have toys to play with, especially the Woodchuck. It is actually my foster sister’s, but she lets me play with it. I like to play “tug-of-war” with it, but not to hard. I don’t have any front teeth! My foster brother gets a little jealous when the attention is on me, so he wants to play with me and show me who is boss. We are having a great time together.
Now, I know you are reading this because you are interested in adopting a Pug. Well, as my foster parents can tell you, I would be a great addition to your home. Just look at my face. How can you resist such a cute, black face? In a perfect world, everyone would have one of me! But, there is just only one of me and you could be the lucky person/family to adopt me. I can play around with you or other animals or I can just lie in the bed next to you on the couch. I like being outside, even in this weather! My new foster parent’s backyard is cool with many places to search and find things. And I just love the black squirrels! If you are looking for a younger, more playful Pug, don’t dismiss me because of my age. I can play with the rest of them.
Well, thanks for reading my update and I hope to hear from or see you soon. And if you are not interested in adopting me or any of my other foster brothers or sisters, would you please consider a small donation to help us out. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated. I want to thank you from the bottom of my little Pug Heart! Bye!!!!
Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome G.I "Jo Jo", PRN #245. Jo Jo was surrendered with his pug sister "Piper" G.I "Jo Jo" came to use because his owner passed away.
G.I "Jo Jo" has been seen by the PRN vets. He has started his vaccines and will be neutered on May 19th and given his booster shot. Then he will be ready to be adopted. We are working on his patience and he is doing very well. G.I "Jo Jo" like his sister has a beautiful coat and what a curly tail! Jo Jo gets along well with the other pugs in his foster home. G.I "Jo Jo" is a 6 year old young man that does not act his age, he acts like he is two or three years old. He is housebroken and is a good boy in his room.
If you would like to adopt Jo Jo please submit an application with G.I "Jo Jo" on it and PRN #245. If you cannot adopt G.I "Jo Jo" then please consider being his sponsor. For as little as $1.00 you can have your name next to his.
Update: 5/19/2009 Hi everyone it is me Jo Jo. If I talk a little funny it is because I had my teeth cleaned today and I lost six teeth. Well I also feel a little funny I the back too. My foster dad says it is because I was neutered today and had my DHPP booster. Now I am ready to get adopted. You better hurry and get in an application cause I want to get outta here.

I'd like to introduce one of my housemates PRN#257 "Daysee".
"Daysee" was dumped by her previous family at a local humane society because they were
moving and did'nt want to take her with them, can you believe the nerve!!
Daysee has been seen by our wonderful PRN vets. Daysee had her teeth cleaned because
they were just awful and lost "4" she has been heartworm checked (negative) and has
been put on preventative. Daysee is fully housebroken and crate trained. She will go
to the back door and sit when she needs to go outside. She even goes outside in the rain!!
I know can you believe it, a Pug who does'nt mind going outside in the rain!! As I said,
Daysee is crate trained but she rarely is in one. She can be fully trusted as long as
your home is Pug proofed like our foster home is.
Daysee gets along fine with other dogs. She loves to spend her days laying on the couch watching
Criminal Mind reruns and dozing. She also likes to talk to the tv sometimes when
animal planet is on. It makes me sad that Daysees family dumped her like they did but I'm
really glad the rescue takes really good care of us "Seniors" and knew that a shelter was
no place for this grand lady to be.
If you think your couch is comfortable enough for Daysee to spend her days laying on. Please
fill out an application and put her name on it. If your unable to adopt right now please
consider becoming a "Sponsor" for our sweet Senior "Daysee"

Pug Rescue Network would like to introduce PRN#250 Jesse James aka "J.J."
"J.J." was born into rescue on July 18, 2009. J.J.'s Mother was PRN#249 "Peaches".
"J.J." is a handsome faown little man who came in the the world weighing 7.5 ozs.
"J.J." is now 6 months old and ready to be adopted!! J.J. has all his puppy vaccinations,
he is neutered, microchipped, wormed, and is currently on heartworm preventative.
"J.J." has had a wonderful life in rescue. He is housebroken, crate trained and was walking
on a harness and leash at 10 weeks old!! He has had a couple of set backs with the snow
but overall is outstanding!! "J.J." gets along great with other dogs he has been with
other Pugs since he was able to be socialized. Of course, as he is a pupper there has
been lots of guidance and redirection so as not to let him pester and get himself into
trouble. "J.J." was kept with his Mother Peaches until he was 14 weeks old so she could
teach him as we all know how important the first 8 to 12 weeks are for a puppy to with
with their Mother. "J.J." still has to have contined guidance as he is a bundle of puppy
energy!!
If you think your family is the "Forever Home" J.J. is looking for please fill out an
Adoption Application and put his name on it. If your unable to adopt J.J. then please
consider being a "Sponsor" for J.J.

Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome Violet PRN#259. Violet is an 11
month old fawn female puppy that was struck by a car and needed emergency medical
attention. Here is her story:
The Pug Rescue Network phone rang. The Pug Rescue Network Angels answered the
phone and sprung into action. It seems one of Santa's pug Elves was hurt
and needed PRN to help. "Violet" was injured by a car and needed
immediate medical attention, she was at the emergency room and her family
was not able to cover the costs of the emergency surgery needed.
It was late in the evening when the call came in and PRN had to make a fast decision
to step in and help this Pug in need. Pug Rescue Network was looking at an astronomical vet
cost when all was said and done. Violet was taken into Pug Rescue Networks hands and first thing
Saturday Morning was taken from the emergency room to the PRN vets for a
full evaluation. Violet was given full x-rays and it was determined that
she would need surgery for a crushed pelvis that was broke in 4 spots.
There were several other bones that were broken as well but were in fragments.
Violet was given her surgery that took well over 2 hours to complete.
1 stainless steel plate and 8 screws were required to repair the damage done.
Violet is now recovering in her foster home with a strict (30) day crate rest period
except for her physical therapy. Once she is done with her physical therapy and medically cleared,
then PRN will start working on her recall and socialization. She will then be ready for
adoption.
If you would like to adopt Violet please submit an application with her
name and PRN #---. If you have it in your heart to help Violet you can
make a tax deductible donation to Pug Rescue Network. For as little as
$1.00 you can "Sponsor" Violet and make a difference in a pugs life.

I'd like for everyone to give a warm welcome to one of our new arrivals PRN#255
Miss Miley "Mae". "Mae" came into rescue as an owner surrender, she may look familiar as she is
PRN#253 "Spaz"'s Mom. "Mae" is in the same foster home as me and I've had a bit of time to
spend with her so here's what I know. Mae suffered a previous eye injury, the eye was popped out
in a fight and she is completely blind in her Right eye. "Mae" can only see out of the upper
portion of her Left eye as the bottom is covered with fibrosis and PK. Mae had Ectropion surgery
on Thursday October 29th. We were able to save her blind eye by bringing up the tear production
and doing the surgery to make her eyes smaller. While she was under for her eye surgery she
was also spayed and microchipped.
"Mae" came through her surgery very well and is recovering nicely. She is Currently on
Mucomyst Drops and Tacrolimus both she will require forever. "Mae" has also been brought
up to date on all her vaccinations as well. "Mae" will need to be seen in a few weeks to
have her sutures removed and see how her recovery is going and then she will be available for
adoption once she has been released.
"Mae" came into rescue very defensive I would be too if I could'nt see that good. She has learned
that no one is going to take anything from her and has been fully integrated with everyone
here. I even share my snuggle ball with her!! "Mae" has excellent recall and walks really well
on her harness and leash. We had a bit of a struggle with getting her to eat and it took her
a couple of weeks to come around but she is doing great now. She is crate trained and is doing
really well with going outside to potty. "Mae" loves to chew on her nylabones and loves her stuffed
babies too.
Once "Mae" is ready for adoption if you feel your home would be the perfect "forver home" for "Mae"
please fill out and "Adoption Application" and put her name on it. If your unable to adopt at this
time please consider becoming a "Sponsor" for "Mae".
This is Senior Head Anchor "Johnnie Be Good" off to watch the ten o'clock news.

Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome "Docker Alan" PRN# 254 into rescue.
Have you been looking at your big screen TV thinking, " I need a big Pug
to go with my TV"? Well, Docker Alan is the Pug for you!
Docker is a BIG boy, approximately 35-40lbs. Docker is now on the Hayden
James diet and working out with Richard Simmons videos. He will be at a
healthy weight in no time:)
His family made the very difficult decision to surrender Docker along with
Spaz to Pug Rescue Network.
Docker is 4 years old and looking forward to celebrating his 5th birthday
with his forever family. He is neutered and housebroken. Docker will
brought up to date on shots and microchipped.
He is a shy, sensitive boy. He is learning about crates and trust. While
in Rescue he will be exposed to many different environments and situations
to socilalize and help him overcome his shyness.
Docker's Foster Home reports that he is a good boy. He gets along with the
other dogs and likes to chew bones and toys. Docker likes hanging out and
watching TV...preferably a big screen. He has a big heart who just wants
someone to love and to be loved.
If you would like to adopt "Docker Alan", please submit an application
with his name and PRN# 254. If you can not adopt "Docker" then please
consider being his sponsor. You can sponsor "docker" for as little as $1.00

Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome Luigi Angelo, PRN# 252 I’m four years old. I was surrendered by my old owners because I kept having accidents in the house. I was just sad when they left me all day though, that’s all. My new foster mom says that a little structure and crate training now is “for my own good”. But she gives me peanut butter kongs and big bones when I go in my crate, so it’s really not that bad. I don’t even have time to miss her when she’s gone! And don’t tell her I said so, but she’s probably right about it being for my own good, because now she scratches my belly and tells me all the time what a good boy I am for only going potty outside
Before I came to PRN I had many different owners and when I was with the very first one, somehow, I really don’t remember how, I got a TACK stuck in my eye! Yes, you are reading that right, a Tack. Now it’s all healed and doesn’t hurt anymore, but I have a hard time blinking it and closing it all the way when I sleep. The vet said no problems though, I just need some
eye drops in there once a day. I don’t really like them, but again my foster mom says it’s “for my own good”, so I tolerate it.
The vet said that aside from a little ear infection (yuck, more drops!), I’m pretty healthy and up to date on all my vaccines. So now I’m looking for a forever home- one that will give me my own crate to stay in when they’re gone and keep my schedule. I get a little anxious when I’m left to my own devices, so I need someone to be the boss and keep me in my routine! I’m just looking for someone to hang out and watch TV with, really (I love to watch TV- I growl and act tough for all the dogs I see!) and maybe someone to take me for some walks, I’m a big boy (What? I’m not fat, I’m big boned!) so I need to watch my figure. If that’s you, then please fill out an adoption application and put my name, Luigi, on it and PRN# 252!
If you can not adopt me please consider being my sponsor. For $1.00 you could sponsor me and help a pug in need so go ahead and make a donation or you can purchase one of our new 2010 calendars. Maybe next year I can get in the calendar with your help! Just visit http://www.pugjava.com/ to order a calendar.

Introducing Asia Rae PRN #126. This is Asias 2nd time through Rescue. Her family discovered their new baby was allergic to her, and made the difficult decision to surrender
her. Asia is 5yrs old. She is a big girl who LOVES food. Her Foster mom has reported her numurous attempts at breaking in to the food bins! But Asia is on a strict
1/4c diet to try to get her figure back. Asia has been diagnosed with Epilesy. She is taking medication for it and HAS NOT had a seizure since being in Rescue. During Asia's visit with the Rescue's
vet, xrays were taken to find out why she breathed so heavily even in air conditioning. She was found to have a collasping trachea which makes it imperative that she lose
weight. She is currently taken medication to help her breathe more easily. It is hoped that in losing weight she will be able to come off that medicine. Asia is up to date on all vaccines. She is spayed and microchipped. She does well with other dog and is quiet in her crate. She is housetrained, but has had a few accidents in her crate. She loves people and can be a mad kisser.
If you would like to adopt Asia Rae please submit and application with PRN#126 on it. If you cannot adopt Asia Rae you can help a pug in need
like her. $5.00 can make a big difference in a pugs life. Please sponsor a pug today.

This is Senior Head Anchor "Johnnie Be Good" reporting live from Pug Rescue Network. I would like to introduce a new member into the rescue family PRN#242 "Toby" Lee. Toby comes to us as an owner surrender. Toby has some pretty serious medical issues that his previous family could no longer deal with.
Toby Lee has a bad backend somewhat like mine but right now his is much worse. Toby has been in for a neurology consult. Right now Toby either has a disk herniation, meningitis, tumor or myelopathy (which there is no cure for). Right now PRN has taken the first step in finding out exactly what is wrong with Toby. Toby is on steroid therapy and strict crate rest for 2 weeks. That means very little to no walking for my friend. After the two weeks if there is no change the next step will be x-rays if the x-rays show nothing an MRI will need to be done.
Toby has been seen by our wonderful PRN vets and has been updated on his vaccinations and heartworm tested (negative). Pending the results of Tobys x-rays and MRI it will be determined if surgery will be able to fix my friends backend problem. Toby is a great boy, very happy and is doing extremely well with being crated. The angels have been given a quote for the tests if needed and there pretty steep over $1,300 just for the x-rays and MRI that does'nt include the cost of surgery and hospitalization. We think Toby is worth every penny!!
Right now, Toby is on MEDICAL HOLD and is'nt available for adoption but you could brighten his days by being a "Sponsor" for him we love when people sponsor us!! Please keep by friends Toby & Lizzie in your prayers right now they both really need it.
This is Senior Head Anchor "Johnnie Be Good" off to get my nightly Cosequin.

Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome Cassius "Cash" Ali back into rescue. Hello Everyone it is me Cash. Yes, I am back. My family had a new baby and I was not getting the attention I was used to and I kept getting into trouble. So they made the decision that it was best that I was returned to PRN.
Since "Cash" Ali has been back in rescue he has been a very good boy! Cash is a snuggle pug, he loves to lay in your lap and just rest like most of the senior pugs.
When Cash goes outside he does like to bark at things, but if you go out with him he is quiet. Cash is very good in the house and does not bark unless he hears something he needs to alert you to. He is a great guard dog!
Cash is getting along great with the other pugs in his foster home and everything is great with him:)
Cash is up to date on his vaccines and ready to go to his forever home.
If you would like to adopt "Cash" then please fill out an application and put his name on it with PRN #186. If you cannnot adopt "Cash" please consider being his sponsor, for as little as $1.00 you can support "Cash".

This is Senior Head Anchor "Johnnie Be Good" reporting live from Pug Rescue Network Headquarters. I'd like to introduce one of our newest members to the rescue family PRN#238 Miss. "Starla Bright". Starla came to Pug Rescue Network from a local area shelter where she was picked up as a stray. I know, it's hard to believe that this beautiful senior gal was walking around as a stray in this harsh Michigan winter weather, but it's true.
Starla has been seen by our PRN vets already. She has been brought up to date on all her vaccinations, heartworm checked and also had a senior blood profile done. Her initial bloodwork came back with some elevations so another series of bloodwork was done and came back normal, she has now been cleared to have her teeth cleaned. She has some serious gater breath!! Starla is a big boned gal weighting in at 23.8Lbs. She has already been put on the 1/4 diet with additional supplements for her bones and joints. Starla has an old injury in her right rear leg that causes her to limp but it sure does'nt stop her from getting around!!
Starla has a wonderful personality about her. She is very vocal about her wants, needs and desires!! Starla loves to follow Foster Mom around the house and plop down when Mom stops. Starla has been introduced and properly integrated with all of us and besides a few words with Dorothy Anne has fit into the "Senior Retirement" home quite nicely.
If you feel your family and home would be the perfect place for "Starla Bright" to live out her retirement years please fill out an application and put her name on it. If your not able to adopt at this time, consider being a "Sponsor" for Miss. Starla Bright. We love when we have Sponsors!!! This is Senior Head Anchor "Johnnie Be Good" off to lay in the morning sun.

This is Johnnie Be Good “Senior Head Anchor” for Pug Rescue Network introducing one of our newest arrivals PRN#212 “Daniel Robert”. Daniel came into rescue as an owner surrender due to marking in his previous home and not being able to get along with the other two Pugs in the home. Daniel came to Pug Rescue Network in very bad shape. Daniel has severe skin allergies due to being on a poor quality kibble and not receiving the proper medical attention he needed. Daniel has NEVER seen a veterinarian!! During Daniels initial wellness visit with PRNs vet it was discovered that besides having his horrible skin issue Daniel is “HEARTWORM POSITIVE”. Daniel spent two days undergoing the grueling heartworm treatment during which it was also discover that he suffered from Tapeworm as well. At this time, Daniel must remain calm and quiet in his crate for the next 30 DAYS. If Daniel survives the treatment process after the thirty-day confinement, Daniel will be retested to see if all the worms are gone. A simple Heartworm pill given once a month could have prevented our precious Daniel from going through this ordeal. Folks, the cost of a heartworm tablet is the same as the price of a movie ticket!! Once Daniel is medically well enough he will be neutered have his teeth cleaned and microchipped. I am begging you to find it in your heart to make a donation on behalf of “Daniel Robert”. With out you, our angels could not care for us and be able to give us everything we need and then some when we come into rescue in the horrible shape sweet Daniel is in. Please keep “Daniel Robert” in your thoughts and prayers that he is able to come through this heartbreaking situation and go on to find a wonderful “Forever Home”. This is Johnnie Be Good going to blow my nose.
5/12/2008 Daniel recently spent the night at MSU Veterinary Hospital undergoing a series of test. They were looking for the liver shunt and instead found a 2nd Degree AV block in his heart. The structure of the heart is fine but the electrical is ocassionally short circuting causing a skipped beat. The Drs. think Daniel had a cardiac episode rather than a seizure. They did not rule out a liver shunt , but they couldn't find it. He is currently taking medication and will be evaluated in June. Daniel continues to thrive in his foster home despite all the medcal issues he has dealt with. He is just such a love Pug! Oh, by the way...HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY DANIEL!! 5/15/2008.
1/9/2009 It's the New Year and Daniel is looking forward to a very healthy year! He has been medically cleared for adoption and should live a normal Pug life. Last year, after a fainting episode, test were run and came back positive for a possible liver shunt. A trip to see the Vets at MSU for more testing revealed a 2nd Dgree AV Block rather than a liver shunt. Daniel spent a month on medcation then another trip to MSU. This time test showed a change from 2nd Degree to a 1st/2nd Degree Block. Daniel then was taken off medication for 2 weeks and brought back to MSU for testing once again. Amazingly Daniel showed no signs of the blockage or the liver shunt which is what he was originally in for. Even the Drs were surprised by the results. Daniel is currently not taking any medication, but an annual ECG has been recomended by his Vets. All of this happened after successfully being treated for Heartworm in Nov./Dec. of 2007.
Daniel is a love Pug wanting nothing more than a bone to chew and a place to sleep. He is the picture of health with a solid body of well defined muscle that you don't normally see on Pugs.
Daniel hopes everyone has a Happy Healthy New Year!

This is “Johnnie Be Good” Senior Head Anchor (note the promotion) reporting live from PRN Headquarters where I’d like to introduce one of our newest arrivals PRN#202 Miss. Dorothy “Dottie” Anne. I’m in foster care with Miss. Dot and have had quite a bit of time to sit and chat with her. “Dot”, can you tell the people out there a little bit about yourself and how you came into rescue. Well Johnnie, I was found wandering as a stray outside of a local tavern up in the northern part of Michigan. Hey, I was just out looking for a good hot bar burger and a cold margarita and somehow ended up in the local slammer!!! They were kind enough to call upon the Angels to come bail me out. One of the wonderful PRN Volunteers drove up and picked Miss. Birdie Bell Blossom and me up and transported us down here into Foster Care. I’ve got some pretty serious medical issues that need to be addressed but once that’s all taken care of I’ll be ready to let the Angels find me a “Forever Home”!! I’ve also had time to sit with Pug Rescue Networks Vet Care Coordinator who also happens to be my Foster Mom and here what’s going on with Miss. Dots medical issues: Dottie was taken to PRNs wonderful vets on Tuesday 8/28/07. Dottie has a very large mammary tumor about the size of a baseball hanging off her along with several other tumors that run up and down both sides of her belly. X-Rays were taken to see what was going on inside Miss. Dot, the x-rays looked good. There were no signs of the dreaded “C” word and her heart and trachea looked good. Dot was given her Rabies and we started her DHPP series. A full Wellness blood panel was drawn and she was Heartworm Negative!! Her blood work did show a little elevation of her white blood cells so she was put on an antibiotic for a couple of weeks. On 8/30/07 Dot went in for a biopsy of the largest tumor on her and we are still awaiting the results. Once we have those back, we will determine her course of treatment. Along with the entire tumor removals Dot needs to be spayed and have her teeth cleaned. Her treatment will take time as all the tumors cannot be removed at once because (don’t mean to be graphic) but our vets wouldn’t be able to close her completely back up because there wouldn’t be enough skin left. So removal may have to be done in stages. Johnnie I just want to add as your know, this little girl has so much love and life in her!! She just amazes me everyday!! She acts like a puppy jumping on and off the couch, and running up and down the stairs. I’ve had a difficult job here of late trying to keep her from hurting herself after her biopsy because it hasn’t slowed her down one bit!! Well all, I will update on Miss. Dot as soon as new information is given. Please keep my friend in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through her upcoming difficult medical procedures. I would love to see an application come in for this beautiful little girl. But, if you’re not able to apply for my friend Dot, please consider being a Sponsor for her. Our Angels could use the help taking care of her!! This is “Johnnie Be Good” reporting live from PRN Headquarters.

This is “Ava Sue” Senior Head Anchor for Pug Rescue Network I would like to introduce one of our new rescues and my very dear friend PRN#181 “Johnnie” aka “Johnnie Be Good!!! Johnnie came into rescue on February 3rd, 2007 it’s a day I’ll never forget. My friend Johnnie came to PRN as an owner surrender. Johnnie was hurt really really bad back in October of 2006 and was never taken to see a veterinarian for his injury. My friend Johnnie was hurt by a very large breed dog and suffered spinal and neurological damage and also suffered an injury to his ear. As I already stated, Johnnie wasn’t taken to the vet!!! When Johnnie came bursting through the doors of my Foster home it almost made me cry. He is very unsteady on his back legs and sometimes they tend to drag a bit. Now don’t get me wrong, he gets around like nobodies business. Foster Mom put lots of throw rugs down so he can get good traction; he’s a little wobbly and knows how to do the splits too!! It makes me sad and angry to think that Johnnie could have been fixed with proper medical attention at the time of his injury. Johnnie went to our wonderful veterinarians on Thursday, February 8th, 2007. I of course also went along for moral support and I also had a Doctors appointment too. After examining Johnnie, our Orthopedic Surgeon confirmed that Johnnie indeed had a spinal injury and damage that just can’t be fixed, the injury is too old and odds are the surgery won’t work. Please don’t worry, my friend Johnnie isn’t in any pain he just gets around a little differently than the rest of us. Johnnie was taken back to Oakland Animal Hospital on Monday, February 12, 2007 he was neutered, had a full dental. my poor friend lost “2” teeth and had his soft palate lasered and I mean he had a lot taken off!!! My friend also has very low tear production in both his eyes so he was also put on Tacrolimus drops to see if we can get his eyes working right again. Johnnie has been put on an anti-inflammatory therapy to see if we see any improvement in his back legs. My friend has such spirit it’s just unbelievable!! He is just so happy and loves to go out and eat snow and woo woo at the world!! I spend a lot of time lying next to Johnnie (NO, I don’t have a crush on him!!!) I’m on my snuggle ball and he’s in his room (crate). My friend is so good in his room he hasn’t had any accidents and is so quiet and good. I’ve been showing him the ropes and just being there to comfort him. My friend Johnnie is so good about letting Foster Mom tear his eyes, I let her do mine first just so he could see that it wouldn’t hurt. I know after everything he’s been through, he’s not feeling all that great right now, but he’ll be back to his old self in no time!! Did I mention how incredibly handsome my friend Johnnie is?? (NO, I don’t have a crush on him!!) I know my Angels at Pug Rescue Network are going to find my friend Johnnie the most perfect “Forever Home”, is it yours?? I don’t know if you folks have noticed but we’ve had a rash of really needy Pugs here lately!!! If you can find it in your heart to spare a few dollars or even some change for my friend Johnnie I sure would appreciate it. Our Angels take such wonderful care of all of us and work so tirelessly to raise funds so we never ever go without!!! And one more thing, I want to say a special Thank You to all the Doctors and staff at Oakland Animal Hospital. Thank you for taking such good care of my friend Johnnie!!!
